About Us

Open DXF File Online is a free tool and a growing library of guides for anyone who needs to open, check or understand a DXF file. You do not need AutoCAD, an account or an install. You just open the file in your browser and see the drawing.

Why we built it

DXF files are everywhere. Architects send them to builders. Engineers send them to machine shops. Makers buy them for laser cutters, CNC routers and vinyl cutters. But most people who receive a DXF do not own CAD software. They end up downloading huge programs, signing up for trials, or uploading private drawings to random websites just to take a look.

We thought that was silly. Looking at a drawing should take seconds, not an afternoon. So we built a viewer that runs entirely in your browser.

What makes our viewer different

  • Private by design. Your file is read and drawn on your own device. It is never uploaded to our server. See our Privacy Policy.
  • Free, with no sign up. No account, no trial, no watermark.
  • Works everywhere. Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, iPhone and Android.
  • Useful tools. Turn layers on and off, measure distances, switch between dark and light backgrounds, and save PNG or SVG copies.

Try it now on our home page.

Our guides

Opening the file is often just the first step. People want to know why a file will not open, how to convert DWG to DXF, how to prepare a file for laser cutting, or which free program to use. Our DXF Guides answer those questions in plain, simple language. No jargon for its own sake, and no fluff. Every guide aims to help you finish a real job, whether you are a student, a maker, a contractor or an engineer.

We are a small, independent team that works with CAD files, cutting machines and websites every day. We test the tools we write about and keep our guides updated as software changes.
